The commercial subsidiary of NHK Holdings and affiliate of NHK; NHK Enterprises handles sales and distribution of the company's programming and intellectual property, and manages their copyrights. In addition, it functions as a production contractor for NHK programming. Originally founded in 1985 as 'NHK Enterprises', it was merged with NHK Creative in 1995 and was rebranded as 'NHK Enterprises 21'. On April 1st, 2005, it was merged with NHK Software (the corporation's video arm); the resulting company was rebranded once more back to 'NHK Enterprises'. Later, other affiliated companies of NHK were absorbed, including Sogo Vision in 2013 and NHK Planet in 2020.
